Travel to Portland

Most major US carriers serve Portland International Airport. In addition, there is direct service from Germany, Japan, Canada and Mexico. Details can be found at:

http://www.flypdx.com/.

Travel from the Airport to the hotel

Portland has an outstanding public transit system (http://www.trimet.org/). Portland Airport is served by the MAX light-rail train. To reach the hotel from the airport take the Red Line in the direction of Beaverton TC or Downtown to the 3rd and Morrison stop. Purchase an "all zone" ticket for $1.95 from the automated kiosk before boarding the train. The hotel is about 8 blocks south and one block east of the 3rd and Morrison stop (less than half a mile).

The hotel

The conference hotel is the Portland Marriott Downtown Waterfront. Information about hotel registration can be found here.

Saturday workshop venue

If you are attending the Saturday workshops, they will be held at Portland State University in the Smith Memorial Student Union. The student union is located at the corner of Broadway and Montgomery (Broadway is logically Seventh Avenue in the downtown grid) and is about 10 blocks (0.5 miles or 0.8 km) from the hotel. There is a campus map on the Portland State web page:

http://pdx.edu/map.html.
On that map, Smith Memorial Student Union is located at C6. The hotel is two blocks north and two blocks east of A11. The rooms for the workshops are:
SMSU 294   ACM SIGPLAN Workshop on ML
SMSU 296   ACM SIGPLAN Workshop on Generic Programming

If you are not comfortable walking 10 blocks to reach the venue or have other special transportation needs, please contact Jim Hook, who is coordinating local arrangements.
